Utagawa Hiroshige is a Japanese painter of ukiyo-e, considered the last great master of this tradition. Hiroshige is famous for The Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō and One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. Western European artists, such as Manet and Monet, collected and closely studied Hiroshige's compositions. Vincent van Gogh even went so far as to paint copies of two of Hiroshige's prints.

Birth : 1797 in Edo, Japan.
Death : 12 October 1858 (at about the age of 60) in Edo, Japan.
