Franz Marc Jigsaw Puzzles

Painter, Draughtsman

Franz Moritz Wilhelm Marc, known as Franz Marc, was a German painter and draughtsman. He is one of the main artists of the Expressionist movement in Germany. Alongside Wassily Kandinsky, he was one of the founders of Der Blaue Reiter. Although Marc's early works are rather naturalistic in style, he moved towards a post-impressionist style under the influence of Gauguin and van Gogh after a visit to Paris in 1907. Between 1910 and 1914, he produced his most famous works, mainly on the theme of animals, such as The Tiger, Blue Horse I, The Yellow Cow and Destined Animals. At the beginning of the First World War he was mobilised and fell two years later in front of Verdun, at the age of 36.

Birth : 8 February 1880 in Munich, Germany.
Death : 4 March 1916 at Braquis near Verdun, France.
